2019

In the late 2010’s, Cisco’s Tactical Operations expands to provide connectivity for people displaced by man-made crises. TacOps, working as a key partner to NetHope, helps create a pathway of connectivity for Venezuelan refugees. The pathway provides wireless communication links along refugee routes, giving refugees access to a splash page that directs them to safety and resources. TacOps team members deploy to dozens of locations and help provide connectivity to more than 50,000 users over the coming two years.

TacOps Responds to Hurricane Maria

2017

On September 20, Hurricane Maria hits Puerto Rico as a Category 4 storm, causing widespread damage and completely destroying the island's power grid. TacOps deploys to Puerto Rico within a week, and then rotates teams every two weeks. Working in partnership with NetHope, TacOps and a team local Cisconians, based out of Cisco’s San Juan office, support connectivity efforts on the island for 75 days. It will be the longest deployment in the group’s history.
