Cisco Plus launches in April 2021, offering best-in-class networking, security, compute, storage, applications and observability solutions as-a-service. Part of Cisco's long-term vision to transform our business model, Cisco Plus gives customers the opportunity to purchase Cisco IT with unified subscriptions that are easy to consume and simple to use.
In September, Cisco announces its commitment to reaching net zero across all scopes of emissions by 2040, including our product use, operations, and supply chain. The goal and Cisco's plan to achieve it are validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) under its Net-Zero standard.
Founded in 2010 by UCLA classmates Mohit Lad and Ricardo Oliveira, ThousandEyes’ Internet and cloud intelligence platform expands visibility and insights into the digital delivery of applications and services over the internet and the cloud. ThousandEyes would be integrated into Cisco products across a wide variety of platforms.
Tactical Operations merges with Cisco’s Critical Human Needs investment portfolio to optimize its social impact, becoming Cisco Crisis Response. The CCR Team applies its collective resources and expertise to support partners working in emergency and humanitarian response. These resources include cash and product grants, technical expertise, guidance on emergency connectivity and network security solutions, and on-the-ground equipment installations and deployments.
In the late 2010’s, Cisco’s Tactical Operations expands to provide connectivity for people displaced by man-made crises. TacOps, working as a key partner to NetHope, helps create a pathway of connectivity for Venezuelan refugees. The pathway provides wireless communication links along refugee routes, giving refugees access to a splash page that directs them to safety and resources. TacOps team members deploy to dozens of locations and help provide connectivity to more than 50,000 users over the coming two years.
In the early weeks of 2020, the novel coronavirus COVID-19 begins its spread around the world. The global fight against COVID-19 is waged for years, utilizing a vast array of strategies, including shelter-in-place orders, masking and social distancing, and a monumental effort to develop and distribute effective vaccines. As of the end of March 2022, the World Health Organization reports more than 6 million deaths worldwide due to COVID-19.
